Your specialized guide will wait for you at the airport and take you to the office, where you can repack and leave in the storage room everything you will not need in this part of your trip. Then we continue to the port in the native community of Infierno.

During this tour we can make some stops in order to observe birds among other animals, we will have the opportunity to see species of oropendolas, tanagers and fly traps, etc.

During our boat trip to our jungle lodge, visitors will receive a boxed lunch and we will also have a chance to see shore birds such as Cocoi Heron and Capped Heron etc.

After a short rest we will take a short introductory walk to look for some nocturnal species, such as the griffon-bellied screech owl, and with a bit of luck we will be able to observe the horned owl.

Day 2.-

There will be a very early breakfast before visiting the parrot clay lick, located 10 minutes by boat from the main lodge, after which we will return on foot.

In the clay lick we can see yellow crowned parrot, orange cheeked parrot, chestnut-fronted macaw, blue-headed parrot and sometimes we can even see scarlet macaws.

During the return walk we will be looking for some specialized varieties of birds that inhabit the surroundings. Some of the species found include striped anthill, pectoral sparrow, rufous-fronted anthill, pale-winged trumpeter, blue-crowned motmot, and musician wren, among others.

After lunch we will visit Lake Chica, a 20 minute walk from the lodge, to look for species of toucans and aracaries. We will also have the opportunity to see other species such as the black-capped Donacobius and the little cuckoo.

On our return we will try to spot some species of owls.

We have an early breakfast before embarking on a full day hike, complete with boxed lunch, exploring the primary and secondary forests.

We will hike approximately 6km in total, in order to look for as much variety of species as possible, hopefully including some mixed flocks that could include Half-Collar Puffbird, Shrike-White-winged Tanager, Ant-Red-crowned Tanager, Pavonine Quetzal. , Round-tailed manakin, scaly-backed anthill, white-throated anthill, blue-crowned trogon, curly-crested aracari, golden-necked tucanet and many others.

The return to the lodge will be around 4 p.m.

After breakfast we will visit a tower 42 meters high, to observe the birds of the canopy. Some species that can be observed include Golden Bearded, Amazonian Pygmy Owl, White Neck Puffbird, Paradise Tanager, Turquoise Tanager, Green and Golden Tanager, as well as the possibility of seeing species of macaws, parrots, toucans. and aracaries, and hopefully the endangered harpy eagle.

After Lunch we will embark on a walk along the Chica Lake trail, this walk will pass through several different types of forests, which will allow us the opportunity to see perhaps the blue-necked turkey, the black-spotted naked eye, the legged hornero pale, the band-tailed jumper, the yellow-headed jumper. fire, cream-necked woodpecker and many other species.

An early breakfast where we will also receive packed lunches for the day.

We walk directly to Lake Cocococha, a 5 km hike, which we will try to do as early as possible to enjoy bird watching during sunrise, where we can see Horned Screamer, Anhinga and various types of Jacanas and Kingfishers
Hopefully we might see the rare Agami heron, the pointed-tailed nuthatch, and the long-billed nuthatch. Also the possibility of seeing giant river otters in danger of extinction.

After a couple of hours paddling around the lake, we will return to the lodge, exploring the forest on the way in search of new species.

After dinner there is the option of a boat ride on the river to spot alligators, with the possibility of spotting species of nocturnal birds such as the ladder-tailed nightjar, the common foal and the tropical screech owl.

We will take this last opportunity to walk the trails in order to look for species that have not yet been seen, explore some of the different areas of the forest, or perhaps repeat some of the activities that guests would like to experience again. .

Either before or after dinner, we will embark on a night hike to search for owls and other nocturnal species.

We have an early breakfast and prepare for our departure from the lodge.

Departure time is scheduled according to flight schedules for guests who finish their tour on the same day.

Guests are taken from the port to our Puerto Maldonado office and then to the airport.

What kind of weather can we find in the Amazon Jungle? It is sunny year-round, and like any other tropical rainforest, it can be hot and humid. The average year-round temperature is 27°C (80°F), with nights being slightly cooler. December to June is the rainy season, with April and May experiencing more rain, and temperatures normally between 23°C (73°F) and 30°C (86°F).
